GEKA is a funded and Approved Provider Early Years Manager and a not-for-profit organisation. We undertake the operational management and employer responsibilities for 10 kindergartens within Glen Eira. We are local and available to support our educational teams, children, families and extended community. All GEKA kindergartens are operating at or above the National Standard.
A group of parents, who were members of their kindergartens committee of management, came together in 2011 with the idea to establish a local place-based management organisation. With the support of the local council and the Department of Education and Training, GEKA was formally established in 2012. This group sought to establish an alternative management model that would reduce the administrative burden on parent volunteers. The aim of GEKA was to form a strong, effective, local kindergarten system that is community based and reflective of the early years management policy framework.
We respectfully incorporate and reflect upon diversity and strive to build meaningful links with the local community and the wider world. In the spirit of reconciliation, we acknowledge that GEKA Kindergartens are situated on country for which the Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation have been traditional owners and custodians for many centuries.
