Hello Glen Education Community,
This term’s newsletter explores risk taking in early childhood, in particular, the value risky play has on a child’s learning and development. The Early Years Learning Framework (2009) lists a number of key outcomes of early childhood, one of which being that children become strong in their social and emotional wellbeing through many diverse experiences, including accepting challenges and taking considered risks. Despite tighter regulation and concerns over safety, a balanced approach whereby safe risk taking is encouraged and welcomed, is the way forward. We wish the Glen Education Community a wonderful holiday break, after what has turned out to be another challenging year. While not always easy, together we have been able to face life’s complexities with confidence and resilience.
