Update regarding fees for term 2

Dear Families,

Re: Update regarding Fees for Term 2

We hope this message finds families safe and well at such a worrying and uncertain time. We understand and appreciate, given the Government’s recent announcements, many of you have questions about the operation of the term 2 kindergarten program and the fees associated with accessing education and care for your child.

While we still have limited information on how education will be provided to your child in term 2 (face to face, remote or a combination of the two), we do have some limited information about fees for term 2.

The State Government, as you would have read, has advised that it will provide approximately (exact amount is unknown at this stage) $485 to service providers, such as Glen Education, for providing 15 hours of 4YO kindergarten in Term 2. Providers are not permitted to charge a gap fee, especially if full fees are not covered by the Government amount. If this were to be $485, this would result in a gap that Glen Education would need to fund, and not pass onto families, as our fees are higher than this amount. Families enrolled in a 22.5 hour group, would still be required to pay for the additional day, above and beyond the 15 hour requirement.

We have, as yet, not been provided the exact amount of the Government’s contribution, nor have we been given information as to when this funding will be paid to Glen Education, so we can then pass this onto families. Until we have received the funding, we are unable to process refunds for families, so appreciate your patience regarding a refund.

Unfortunately, there is no funding available for families that have a child enrolled in a 3YO kindergarten program. Full fees still apply for children enrolled in a 3YO program.

The senior management team have another meeting this afternoon with the Department of Education and will provide further information to families as this becomes available.

We do want to do everything we can to support Glen Education families, so if your family is experiencing hardship due to job loss, please do get in touch with us via Glen Education Finance finance@gekaoffice.org.au so we can discuss the ways we might be able to help.

We will also provide further information about how our programs will operate in the coming days – again we need to be guided by the advice provided by the Government and will do everything we can to get this information to you ASAP. Thank you for your patience and continued support.

Kind Regards,

Glen Education Management
